AltiExcel

Spreadsheet and analytics consulting

Fifteen years inside financial institutions, building the information that credit committees and executive boards decide on. I do not make pretty reports: I make the numbers arrive on time, add up, and hold up in front of an auditor.

Let's talk

Excel

Spreadsheet consulting

I can help you with:

  • Custom spreadsheet design
  • KPI dashboards in Excel
  • Loan portfolio, delinquency and collections models
  • Commission calculations, variable compensation and sales incentive contests
  • Budgets, forecasts and scenarios
  • Results reporting for management and committees
  • Consolidating data from several branches or distribution centres
  • Pricing calculators and quoting tools in Excel
  • Prototypes of internal tools, before investing in a full system
  • Protected, error-proof templates the whole team can use

Analytics

Analytics consulting

Having the right information comes first. If you are not there yet, I can help you build your KPI programme from the ground up: what to measure, where each number comes from, how often it refreshes and who owns it.

If you already have it, the next step is for those indicators to stop being a report someone reviews out of obligation, and become information decisions are actually made with.

Work I have done along these lines: loan portfolio, delinquency and profitability tracking; probability of default analysis and transition matrices (roll rates); operations and customer service indicators —service level, productivity, handling times, NPS and CSAT—; and the information needed to answer regulatory audits.

Automation

Excel automation

You may not know these terms, and you probably do not need to. What matters is this: Excel has tools that can remove most of the manual work someone on your team does by hand today, every week or every month.

What that means in practice: fewer hours copying and pasting, fewer data entry errors, and a report that is ready when you need it instead of when someone found the time to put it together.

The technical words I speak on your behalf: VBA macros, Power Query, the data model, pivot tables and direct connections to SQL Server.

A real example: a process that consolidated credit and collections data from eleven distribution centres, and took days every month, was automated with Excel VBA macros. The corporate indicators went from days to a fraction of the time.

AWS

Data pipelines on AWS

Data processes that run on their own: they fetch the information on a schedule, store it in an analytical format and leave it ready to query or publish, without anyone having to remember to run them.

I built one end to end in my own project, observedstate.com: eleven sources in production with Step Functions and Lambda in Python, storage on S3 queried with Athena, and alarms that watch not only that nothing fails, but that the data arrives complete. A continuous series since December 2025, with no gaps.

Definition

What is an Excel consultant?

A consultant is someone who gives professional advice or services. Excel is Microsoft's spreadsheet program. So an Excel consultant is someone who gives professional advice or services related to Microsoft Excel. That is exactly what I do, for Excel or for other spreadsheet tools such as Google Sheets.

Whether you need an expert to guide you on the big picture, or a custom tool for one specific problem, I can help.

Spreadsheet consultant vs. financial consultant

Spreadsheet expertise overlaps with financial analysis, but the two do not always come together. Some people master Excel and cannot read a loan portfolio; others understand the business but cannot build the tool.

If what you need is a KPI dashboard, a portfolio model, a budget, or someone to work through the analysis with you, you want both in the same person.

I am a certified public accountant by training and I have spent fifteen years inside financial institutions: pension fund managers, lenders, SOFOMes and microfinance firms. I built the information that credit committees and executive boards decide on. I speak the language of non-performing loans, the roll rate, loan loss provisions, the credit committee and the regulatory audit — and I build the tool as well.

Beyond the spreadsheet

When a process grows beyond what a spreadsheet can hold up with any dignity, it has to move. My most recent project is a system of my own that collects and publishes data from eleven public sources every day, running unattended since December 2025: observedstate.com.

I mention it for a practical reason: part of my job is telling you when Excel is the right answer and when it no longer is.
